I attached a purple dichroic twinkle glass cabochon to a silver plated setting, and added a silver plated spiral to the bail. This comes with a 24 inch silver filled chain. The dichroic coating is stronger than the glass itself, and it is applied in a vacuum chamber by the manufacturer. This type of art glass is called fused. It is not painted on and won't chip off unless the glass itself is damaged by rough use.
